Over five hundred guests have shared their stories from the Matobo Hills. Their words capture something we never could.
Our signature on-foot white rhino tracking is consistently the moment guests remember most.
The rhino tracking was the highlight of our entire African trip. Walking on foot within metres of wild white rhino — nothing compares to this.
Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable. We tracked rhino on foot for over an hour through the granite hills. An unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Seeing rhino in the wild, on foot, with a guide who genuinely loves these animals — this is what real safari is about. The Matobo Hills are magical.
The guides have a 90% sighting success rate and it shows. We saw a mother and calf from just fifteen metres away. Absolutely magical morning.
This is not a zoo. This is walking with rhino in their home.

Our stone-and-thatch chalets are individually designed among ancient granite boulders.
A beautiful lodge nestled in the magnificent Matobo Hills. The chalets are spacious, private, and perfectly integrated into the granite landscape.
Waking up to the view of the balancing rocks from our private veranda was breathtaking. The room was spotless, the bed incredibly comfortable.
The lodge setting is extraordinary — ancient granite boulders, sweeping views, total silence. It feels like you have the Matobo Hills entirely to yourself.
Perfect in every way. The traditional roundhouse chalets have real character. You feel connected to the landscape without sacrificing any comfort.
We didn’t want to leave. Three nights was not enough.

Every meal is freshly prepared by our chefs with menus that change daily. But it is the warmth of our team that guests talk about most.
The food was outstanding — every meal a surprise. Fresh, beautifully presented, and more than generous. The staff are warm and genuinely attentive.
Absolutely scrumptious food, wonderful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. They remembered our dietary preferences without us asking twice.
The hospitality is world-class. From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel like family. The personal touches make all the difference.
Sundowners on the rocks, a braai under the stars, and the best home-cooked food in Zimbabwe. This lodge understands what makes safari memorable.
The Matobo Hills is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with the highest concentration of rock art in southern Africa.
The cave paintings were mesmerising. Our guide explained the San Bushman history with such passion and knowledge — we could have listened all day.
A special place in Zimbabwe. The combination of wildlife, ancient rock art, and these incredible granite landscapes is unlike anywhere else on Earth.
Thirteen thousand years of history painted on granite walls. Unforgettable.

No elephant, lion, or buffalo in the immediate area makes the Matobo Hills one of the safest safari destinations in southern Africa for families with children of all ages.
Travelled with our three children aged 5, 8, and 12. Every single one of them says Matobo Hills Lodge was the best part of our holiday. Safe and thrilling.
We celebrated our anniversary here. The team surprised us with a private dinner on the rocks at sunset. Absolutely perfect — we will be back.
